SGA candidate Jovan Paige denies he was involved in an alleged fight at a fraternity party last week even as the Dean of Students and Election Commission say they’re looking into the incident.
In a statement to The Signal, candidate for Vice President of Student Life Jovan Paige said he was not involved in a fight that apparently broke out between members of Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma fraternities on March 28.
“I did not initiate nor was I involved in any physical altercations on the said date, nor was I intoxicated,” Paige said in an email.
When asked to answer follow up questions about what happened on said date, Paige said he would not be providing anymore statements at this time but may be in communication with The Signal at a later time.
Multiple sources told The Signal that Paige had initiated fights at a probate after-party. Members from Paige’s fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, and another fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma, were seen fighting at the party.
Sources told The Signal that Paige had been intoxicated and blew his whistle at members of Phi Beta Sigma during a stroll, a traditional dance done by brothers of a fraternity. As stroll master, Jovan would have been the leader of the stroll who blows the whistle.
