GP Renewable Source Plan gets approved
On Thursday, state regulators approved Georgia Power’s (GP) plan to use more renewable sources for electricity. According to WABE, the plan entails that the company will pull its energy from solar power in existing and new buildings, as well as military bases. The regulators also agreed to GP’s request for reimbursement on a study they conducted on nuclear power. The company’s spokesman said the study is a part of their efforts to look more into nuclear power for a possible option in the future.

New Information on Texas Hot Air Balloon Crash
On Sunday, the National Transportation Board came out with new information that could shed some light on the Texas hot air balloon crash that killed its 16 passengers. The board said the hot air balloon most likely hit wire lines which causing it to catch on fire. According to NBC News, officials have gathered electronic devices from the victims to try and figure out the order of the events which took place that led to the crash.

Russian plane shot down by Syrian rebels
Syrian rebels have shot down a Russian Mi-8 transporter, killing five people that were travelling inside, according to BBC. The helicopter was brought down over the Syrian city Idlib, which is currently under the control of jihadist groups. The Russian defense ministry revealed the helicopter was on its way back from the captured city of Aleppo, where it was sent to deliver humanitarian aid.
