Students stretch it out with yoga classes

The relaxing, mind-freeing benefits yoga can benefit students every day lives: while practicing yoga, heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate all decrease, leaving us feeling calm and at peace with the world around us.

But what about the other benefits we don’t hear about? The Employee Development & Wellness Services office at Georgia State is offering free series yoga classes every Friday to teach employees and students just that.

“It’s all about your health,” said Kiana Stephenson, the Administrative Coordinator at the EDWS office. “They say it relaxes you, I think [the class] is beneficial for everyone to partake in.

Not only that, but yoga increases your flexibility and endurance, improves your immune system as well as your posture, and gives you a boost of energy.

So if you have a hard time waking up for that early morning class, grab a mat and learn how to stretch with the folks at EDWS!

Yoga Classes are instructed by Wellness Consultant Janet Wice and take place every Friday from 12-1 p.m. Locations vary per class.
