The Georgia State softball team will play its first home games this weekend as they host the Panther Invitational at the Heck Softball Complex.

The Panthers currently sport a 1-3 record on the young season.

Their first opponent will be the Northern Kentucky Norse on Saturday at 3:00 P.M.

This will be the first game of the season for the Norse and sophomore outfielder Kaylin Steinmetz, who batted .323 for Northern Kentucky in 2012.

Sophomore Callie Alford has a .300 batting average for the Panthers on the young season.

Georgia State will face the Presbyterian College Blue Hose in the second of two Saturday games, with a tentative 5:30 P.M. first pitch.

The Blue Hose won their opening game against Wisconsin, but have since dropped four straight.

Presbyterian College’s senior second baseman Morgan Durham is batting .357 with two home runs this season.

The Panthers’ leading hitters currently are Callie Alford and Audrey Mason, who are hitting .300 and .273 respectively.

All home softball games are played at the Robert E. Heck Softball Complex, located at 2401 Wildcat Rd., Decatur, Ga., 30034, and admission is free with a Georgia State student ID.
