Georgia State’s cross country posted a second-place finish to Appalachian State by three points at the 28th annual Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
The Mountaineers and Panthers each were able to get four runners into the top ten at the 5k meet. Appalachian State had finishers at 2, 6, 8, and 10 where Georgia State finished at 4, 5, 7, and 9. Four Mountaineer runners finished ahead of the Panthers’ next best runner outside of the top 10.
Hannah Stefanoff placed Georgia State with a fourth place 18:02.62. An 18:14.90 time would produce a fifth place outing for Stella Christoforou. Nuria Ramirez posted a seventh place time with an 18:29.26. Niamh Kearney’s 18:34.67 had her at ninth place while Jordan Townsley was in 15th with a 19:06.90.
The Panthers also had runners finish in 25th (Sarah Bearden) and 37th (Mackenzie Nail).
Kyla Van Graan of Coastal Carolina had the best individual time with a 17:18.93.
Georgia State is currently ranked 11th in the South Region. They will return to competition Oct. 4 at the Jacksonville State Invitational in Alabama.
