There’s a new leader at the top of the Georgia State home run charts. In game two of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader against nationally-ranked No. 24 South Alabama, the Panthers’ senior third baseman blasted her 33rd career home run, passing Lauren Jones and Paige Nowacki to become the Panthers’ all-time home run leader. The game itself resulted in a 13-11 loss to the Jaguars.
Alford attended Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia. She was a three-time All-State selection as well as a four-time All-Region honoree. In 2011, the Rockdale Citizen named her All-Area Softball Player of the Year.
In her freshman season in 2012, she made the CAA All-Rookie Team and the All-CAA Second Team. Alford led the team in RBIs with 43. She made the All-CAA Second Team in 2013 as well and once reached base in 25 consecutive games.
Last year, she made the All-Sun Belt team and had a .302 batting average.
