Hedrick Smith, best-selling author and two-time Pultzier Prize winner, will visit Georgia State to discuss “Who Stole the American Dream?” at 6:30 pm in the Centennial Hall Auditoriom (100 Aburn Ave.) on March 12th.
The lecture by Smith will discuss how America has moved away from an era of middle-class power and prosperity to an economy that is changing the “American Dream” for many middle-class families.
Hedrick Smith worked for The New York Times for 26 years as a reporter and edtor. Smith covered topics such as the Vietnam War, the Cold War and the Civil Rights Movement.
Hedrick also worked with PBS receiving two Emmys and created 26 mini-series and prime-time specials on terrorism, Wall Street scandals, Perestroika, the fall of Enron and Wal-Mart.
The lecture will be hosted by the Honors College in recognition of the previous Honors Program director, Dr. Grant Luckhardt. A reception and book signing will follow Hedrick’s presentation.
