Hannah Grant has vacated her position as Georgia State’s Student Government Association (SGA) Vice President of Public Relations.
Grant, a grad school bound senior, announced June 30 that she feels the rigors of juggling academics, extracurriculars and student government would no longer allow her to perform to the best of her abilities.
“Due to my many other obligations…I felt it was in my and SGA’s best interest to resign, as I did not feel I could do my best job under so much stress,” she said in a statement sent to The Signal.
Grant assured The Signal that her grades are up to par with SGA standards and she left on her own peaceful accord.
“I have and will continue to be a huge supporter and advocate for SGA, and I remain close with the Senate and Executive Board,” she said. “I look forward to seeing all of the amazing things this driven group of students will accomplish this year.”
A close friend of Grant’s, SGA President Sebastian Parra, said he is disheartened by her resignation.
“She was a very important part of my cabinet,” he said. “However, her personal success and health are the most important to me.”
Applications for the VP position can now be found on OrgSync, as evidenced by Student Government Association’s Twitter. Parra hopes the spot will be filled as soon as possible.
