About Lafortune
I am a Junior Nutrition major from Queens, NY. After graduation, I plan on using my knowledge to empower my Haitian people to eat and live better. I want to do this through Spiritual counseling and good Nutrition. I have been a Senator in the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing and Health Professions for 2 years now and currently serve as an Ambassador to the 1913 Society under President Becker.
I have been working at the Welcome Center for 1 year now, member of the GSU Marching Band in 2011-2012 season, Mock Trial Team in 2012, and was a 2013 Inceptor for New Student Orientation. Interacting with the Student Body at Georgia State is my niche. I believe I am a leader who speaks well and acts better.
I currently serve as the youth president to the youth Group at my church. I believe the experiences and knowledge I have with being a youth president will be a great asset to holding a position in the Executive Board of SGA. I have learned how to listen to people’s problems and actively seek solutions.
My goals as an elected official is to make sure the services that are offered to students here at GSU are known and accessible. I can serve as a great spokesperson to ensure that our students are aware of what is offered to them here, (especially underclassmen).
I am a witness to Georgia State’s unique ability to offer services to students of any background to enhance their success not only here on campus, but also life in general. I want to spread that awareness as much as possible.
