Georgia State’s educational reach continues to expand not only here in Atlanta, but all over the world.
J. Mack Robinson School of Business announced on Sept. 9 that it is allowing international students from Bermuda College, a community college on the island of Bermuda, to take Georgia State classes online.
The distance learning agreement will allow Georgia State to broadcast classes over the internet so that students won’t have to leave the island to receive their degrees.
Up to 25 students will be able to attend classes via live simulcast sessions every evening.
“I think that it is awesome that Georgia State is broadening their horizons and reaching out to other institutions across the world. I really like the fact that they are allowing these students to get a degree without leaving the island, because I know a lot of them have family ties, and so it is nice that they can still get a quality education,” junior Victoria Sparks said.
The 26-acre college, which enrolled 1275 students in the fall of 2011, will also give its incoming students the opportunity to transfer to J. Mack Robinson College of Business after two years and pay in-state tuition and be qualified for scholarships.
Students who have received at least 60 credit hours and hold a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 are eligible to pursue a Bachelors in Business Administration, specializing in finance or risk management and insurance.
Located about 700 miles east of Georgia State, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, Bermuda College houses 39 faculty members, with an average class size of about 15 traditional and non-traditional students.
“Our goal is simply to bring motivated and bright business students to Georgia State that will graduate and return to positions of influence in Bermuda,” Barry Wood, director of External Relations at J. Mack College of Business, said.
