The partnership went into effect on July 10 when Dr. Risa Palm, provost of Georgia State, signed the agreement in Beijing, the release states.
Dr. Jun Liu, associate provost for International Initiatives at Georgia State, said the students in this program will receive an education in China at UIBE and Atlanta.
“…As well as receive an advantageous dual degree MBA or MPA, depending on which program they successfully complete,” he said.
Both universities will begin designing the course curriculum and establishing the admission criteria before recruiting students for the fall 2015 semester, according to Liu.
“We hope that the Georgia Department of Economic Development will show their support by considering to provide partial out-of-state tuition waivers for future students,” he said. “We also hope that the Qingdao Municipal government will work with Qingdao based companies to provide scholarships for future students.”
Degrees in international business and finance programs will be offered through Robinson. The risk management and insurance program will also be included in the partnership, according to the release.
Palm and Liu will meet with other universities in Asia to discuss faculty and student exchange, the release stated.
“Our Georgia State students will have the opportunity to take classes with the highly selective pool of UIBE students enrolled in the program, which we hope will provide intercultural communication opportunities,” Liu said.
