If you have a date this Valentine’s Day don’t mess it up with roses and chocolates. Go have some real fun together.
Roll one together
A cooking class would be fun, but a sushi
class could be better. You and that special
someone can learn how to make sushi
together like with a little culinary help. A
few sushi joints in Atlanta offer classes on
the art of making sushi.
Sushi House in Buckhead offers classes
year-round, (including one on Saturday
Feb. 16). You learn the ropes of sushi making
(including how to cut the fish, prepare
the rice and the art of presentation) and get
a kit to bring home with you for $80 a person.
Find some white water
With the Smoky Mountains just a
short ride away, there are plenty of reasons
to take a short trip. The outdoors has
many offerings for the adventurous couple:
camping, fishing, hiking and of course
white water rafting.
Southeasten Expeditions offers a beginner
to intermediate (class II-IV) classes
for $85 during the week and $89-99 on the
weekend. This sends you down the Chattooga
River for six hours (and lunch is included).
Love and brew
Get to know each other while you get to
know how to home brew beer. Micro and
home brewed beers are not only popular, but
really fun to do. One way to find out if this is a
good hobby for you and your partner is to take
a beer brewing class.
Hop City Beer and Wine offers weekly
home brewing classes and sell everything you
need to make your own beer, (if you decide
that you are into that sort of thing). The classes
are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the first three Saturdays
of every month. Beginner classes are $15
a person.
Go for a climb
If you and your lover don’t have to go
to the mountains for big adventure. In addition
to a rock climbing and a bouldering
room in Georgia State’s Recreation Center,
pro gyms like Atlanta Rocks and Stone
Summit are not too far from campus.
Atlanta Rocks offers an introductory
class for $35 a person. You learn the basics
and the classes are offered daily. There are
a number of other classes at different levels
available if you and your sweetie decide the
north face is your thing.
Not just for the stars
Throw on some nice clothes and put on
some dancing shoes. Nothing brings a couple
together (or on top of each other) like
two left feet. There are a number of dance
studios in Atlanta that offer beginner classes
to couples.
The Atlanta Ballroom Dance Centre offers
ballroom classes as well as tango, salsa
and other Latin styles. A private lesion for
two is $46.61 right now according to their
website. There are other classes available
but the private offer is 55 minutes.
Love and Murder
Find yourself in your own murder
mystery. A candle lit , coursed dinner with
cocktails is a romantic scene, until someone
dies!
Agatha’s A Taste of Mystery is a dinner
mystery comedy that has live actors, and
the audience, solve a dinner murder. Audience
participation is not required, but is
a huge plus. Dinner and a show (including
tax and tip) is $65 per person. With groups
of 20 or more the cost is $60. Shows are
nightly and luncheons are available.
