After chugging a large coffee from Saxby’s and sitting in a two hour lecture, many of us find ourselves rushing to the restrooms before our next course. The anticipation of a quick trip, quickly turns into an inconvenient and time consuming ritual. “And what ritual is that?” you ask. The “cover your a** ritual!” It’s that extra minute you take to grab a few sheets of toilet paper, making sure they’re just the right length for the toilet seat, and then neatly placing them along the seat, ensuring that no part of the seat is exposed to you. This is all while praying your bladder doesn’t burst all over the floor and later having to explain to your friend why you need to borrow that pair of shorts you just bought her. Yea…that ritual. How inconvenient is that?
There’s a simple solution for this inconvenience and its one size fits all! That solution is a disposable toilet seat cover! Those thin sheets of paper that you simply pull out and lay on the toilet and you’re good to go! You can find these little treasures in most if not all public restrooms now. So, why is that GSU doesn’t provide this simple joy?
While we may not know why they don’t provide them, we can surely argue why they should. So here are three quick reasons advocating the use of disposable toilet seat covers:
- They’re cheap! At a cost of .75 for a 10-pk on ebay, DTSC’s are ridiculously cheaper than paper rolls which are listed at an avg .31 per roll. Consider how much toilet paper and money we could save!
- They’re clog-free! How many times have you opened the door to a bathroom stall only to be greeted by a bowl full of water and paper? Now annoyed, you find yourself spending precious time going from stall to stall in search of a clean bowl. DTSC’s are designed to go down easily, in one piece, with the flush.
- They’re mess-free! Along with the clogged toilet bowls, many campus restrooms have decorations of toilet paper sheets all over the floor. Toilet paper gathers on the floor as students avoid cleaning their hand-made seat covers in an effort to avoid contact. DTSC’s have a perforated middle section designed to cling to the water so that once you flush it is flushed as well, leaving NO MESS.
The next time you take a trip to the little girls or boys room, keep these 3 reasons in mind. With the fast pace of college life, don’t we all want convenient experiences? Well, simple changes like adding a disposable toilet seat cover box to each stall will not only be a convenience but save our school money and keep it clean!
