Indie Rock band Cold War Kids will return to Atlanta to perform at The Buckhead Theater this Saturday with guest Elliot Moss.
The band first turned heads in 2006 with their debut album “Robbers and Cowards.” Songs like “Hang Me Up to Dry” and “We Used to Vacation” drew listeners in with eclectic sounds, but since their debut just over a decade ago, the band has gone through a number of changes that seem have affected their output.
With only two remaining original members, the band has also gone through member changes. The band acquired a new drummer and guitarist. And With member changes came changes in sound.
Each album after the band’s sounds changed to point of sounding like a different artist on certain songs. Choices from the band contrasted the initial sounds of their alternative rock debut.
The band was accepted well their last time in Atlanta for Shaky Knees Music Festival 2014. The Cold War Kids performed crowd favorites like “Miracle Mile” and “Hospital Beds.” (Sidenote: Check out our coverage of the 2015 Shaky Knees Music Festival and see the new lineup this year here!) Since then, they have released a new album titled “Hold my Home.”
The band’s most recent album hones in on an indefinable sound of their own as frontman Nathan Willett stretches his voice on “Flower Drum Song” and “Hot Coals.” The highlight on the album are consistent and befitting.
The band kicked off their tour in Feb. 4 with special guest Elliot Moss. Moss is a 21-year-old alternative electronic artist out of New York whose sound is similar to a mashup between Bon Iver and Radiohead. Moss made waves on the internet with his first single “Highspeeds” and his first album is scheduled to be released April 21.
Concert-goers can expect to see how the band’s latest album will flow with their past songs. The show starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Buckhead Theater. Tickets are still available through ticketmaster and at the venue’s box office.
