Men’s soccer streak continues with victory over Lipscomb

On Friday, Georgia State men’s soccer defeated Lipscomb in a 3-1 victory to continue their four-game winning streak. Goals from Rashid Alarape, Tyler Alexander, and Stephen McGill saw the Panthers through.

The Panthers started the game fiercely, with Aaron Jones testing goalkeeper Micah Bledsoe. Bledsoe made the save but was unable to keep out Alarape’s shot two minutes later. Alarape latched on to a ball in the box and slotted home past the goalkeeper.

The remainder of the first half saw both sides create scoring opportunities but with no end product.

The Panthers opened strong in the second half, only needing two minutes to find the back of the net. McGill’s shot was saved by Bledsoe, but the rebound fell into the path of Alexander who dispatched the chance.

The Panthers were awarded a penalty in the 49th minute after a foul inside the box. McGill stepped up and took the spot kick to grab the Panthers their third goal of the game.

The Bisons managed to pull a goal back in the 73rd minute off a headed goal from a set piece, but were unable to get back into the game, and the game ended at 3-1.

“It was great to get a victory on the road after a long day of travel and this is great to keep the team’s confidence high,” said Head Coach Brett Surrency.
