Georgia State University will host a Green Panel discussion in the Urban Life West Exhibit Gallery on April 21 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The Office of Sustainability, students in the Sustainable Energy Tribe and Dining services have also collaborated to raise awareness on energy conservation and sustainability.
The organizations are partnering to address campus recycling, pre and post consumer waste and sustainability at Georgia State. Other topics of discussion will include student involvement, sustainability and research and the campus bike plan.
Laurene Hamilton, Georgia State’s Recycling Coordinator, said that she hopes the event will educate the university’s community about sustainable initiatives.
“With ever increasing environmental issues and climate changes, sustainability is at the forefront of almost everyone. Because GSU represents a large portion of the downtown community, we strive to be a leader in environmental stewardship and responsibility,” Hamilton said. “With our revved up efforts towards sustainability, we would no longer like to be seen as ‘the sleeping giant’, but working hard at ingraining sustainability into everything we do at the university.”
Students interested in attending the Green Panel discussion are encouraged to RSVP by April 20, according to Georgia State’s website.
