After receiving letters from four concerned children following the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting last month in Newtown, Ct., President Obama revealed a plan this morning to ultimately decrease gun violence in America.
Among the many concerns and letters the President received, concerned children Grant Fritz, Julia Stokes, Hinna Zeejah and Teja Goode sent letters to the President that are “pretty representative of some of the messages that I got,” Obama said according to ABC news.
Obama announced that he plans to utilize an extensive package of 23 executive actions, three of which include universal background checks, the banning of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, the increased access to mental health services and other ways to reduce gun violence.
“The only way we will be able to change is if their audience, their constituents, their membership says this time must be different — that this time, we must do something to protect our communities and our kids,” Obama said.
