Truth is, when you’ve never heard of an artist and you’re experiencing them for the first time, you often neglect to listen to them with the same intensity as you would an already glorified industry member. This is not an example of that moment.
From start to finish, I was enthralled in his performance as well as his melodies and lyrics and I did not have to look around long to notice I was not the only one enamored with the one-man band that is Jake Troth.
Lyrically like Coldplay, with the added bluesy feel of Amy Winehouse, Jake Troth is already being referred to as the modern age Paul McCartney. With his super catchy single, “Material Things,” and superb packaging, it seems Jake is right on schedule to be the next breakout hottie of 2010.
Smartly dressed, Jake kept eyes glued to the stage with his cool demeanor and clever lyrics as onlookers nodded their heads, danced wildly or even closed their eyes as if in a trance.
I truly fell for the heartthrob when his show time had ended, and because Jake wanted to thank everyone for supporting him, he took a seat on a nearby stool amongst the audience and sang what could be my new favorite love lullaby while playing guitar.
It is this ability to connect with the audience that pushes Jake Troth ahead in a brutal industry game and ensures that someone with such cleverly constructed music can be heard.
