New Drug Rehab Center may pop up in Gwinnett

Fresh Start Foundation, a non-profit charity, has turned in a proposal to create a substance abuse treatment center, which the Gwinnett County Planning Commission is scheduled to hear in September. According to the Foundation’s proposal, the facility will be located between Lawrenceville and Grayson, in an area that is currently marked as residential only. The center would include services like counseling, therapy and an environment for those seeking rehabilitation,  AJC reported.

California fires continue to spread

Over 1,500 people have been evacuated from their homes in Los Angeles, after wildfires continue to spread since 2 p.m. on Friday. Firefighters have found one burned body, while over 18 buildings have been destroyed by the flames, according to NBC News. On Sunday night, the smoke became visible from 270 miles away, Las Vegas, but firemen are working to keep it from spreading any further. While the fire has left from Pasadena and beaches in Malibu, officials have issued health warnings about the environment and amounts of ash.

“Republic and Democracy Rally” in Turkey

Turkey’s Republican People’s Party alongside democratic forces stood in unity in Istanbul’s Taksim Square to show support of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the government’s successful attempt to overthrow the coup. Protesters from the government’s opposition party told CNN that protesting does not mean they agree with the current government’s policies, but their ability to stop coup attempts.
