Row Steady ready for competition in Augusta

Georgia State’s rowing team, Row Steady, is set to compete in the Head of South regatta on Nov. 8 in Augusta, GA, according to the Row Steady website.

Both women’s and men’s teams are set to face Berry College, Davidson College, John Carroll University, Rhodes College, the University of Charleston, Tulane University, and the University of Tennessee at the Augusta Rowing Club.

Last year at the Head of South competition, Georgia State’s men’s novice team took the bronze and the women’s novice took gold. The women’s varsity team took silver and the mixed collegiate together took gold, according to the Row Steady website.

Rob Holly, Captain of the Row Steady Novice Team said in an e-mail that the team was expressing an amazing amount of positivity toward the upcoming event.

“This is our only fall regatta in Georgia, and while that is the case, it’s fairly out of the way for most of us as we come mostly from north Georgia. All-in-all, we are very excited to close our season with a bang!”

Holly also said in his e-mail that the team is excited to travel to Augusta taking extra measures to train for the upcoming regatta, such as a stricter diet and longer training hours.

The Head of South regatta will close out the end of the fall 2014 season.
