Latino Greeks make their presence known at Georgia State

Three Latino Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) chapters hosted a “Meet the Greeks” night focusing on recruitment and celebration of Latino heritage in college culture, on Tuesday night in the Student Center.

The Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc., La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc., and Lambda Theta Phi Latina Sorority, Inc. presented and discussed their histories, events and common principles at the event.

Each chapter expressed dedication in offering a support system and showcasing recognition of Latino culture, which the chapters feel is a culture not fully represented at Georgia State.

Latinos are the largest minorities on college campuses today.

“Latino fraternities and sororities were created out of necessity,” said Christian Hill, Student Government Association’s Vice President of Student Services. “These groups did not feel represented.”
