Dragons slay Panthers: Georgia State suffers defeate in final home game of season

The Georgia State women’s basketball team fell to the Drexel Dragons by a final score of 58-49 on Thursday night.

The regular season home finale was also the program’s last home game as part of the Colonial Athletic Association.

The Panthers scored the first four points of the game, but the Dragons eventually jumped out to as much as an eight point lead before it was trimmed once again by Georgia State.

The score at the half was 26-25 Drexel.

The Panthers took a 30-26 lead right after halftime, but then went cold.

A 17 to nothing run extended the Drexel advantage to 43-30.

Georgia State wittled the lead to as few as five points, but would not take the lead again.

The Dragons’ Hollie Mershon finished with 23 points and Renee Johnson-Allen had a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Kendra Long was the only Panther in double digits with 15 points.

The final game of the season will be Wednesday on the road versus Delaware.

The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 P.M. and can be heard on WRAS-FM 88.5 radio.
