Bands the Middle School You Swore Would Take Over: Four Bands That Just Fizzled Out

Most of our middle school selves were covered head to toe in band tees. We would die for most of those bands and try to outdo one another with how many lyrics we could remember. But if you told your middle school self your favorite bands have fallen off the face of the Earth they would probably have a fit.  I mean, if middle schoolers are known for anything it’s good music taste, right?

  1. Boys Like Girls (2005-2012): This mix of Fall Out Boy and *Nsync dominated the headphones of middle schoolers in the early 2000s. Their music was the opening door for little baby pop punk fans. They are best known for songs like “The Great Escape”, “Heels Over Head” and “Hero/Heroine”.
  2. The Click Five (2003-2011): This group of heartthrobs played it a little safer during our angsty years in middle school. When the other bands played up the “scene” look, they were dressing like someone you would take home to mom. They were best known for their song “Just the Girl”.
  3. Metro Station (2006-present): The Metro Station took many middle schoolers from their Disney Channel days to the scene pop music phase. The Siblings of “Hannah Montana” stars started this short lived phenomenon. They are best known for “Shake It.” Although they still make music, I guarantee more than half of you would know.
  4. OK Go (1998-present): This alternative band took YouTube by storm in the early 2000s with their music video “Here It Goes Again”. They took a low budget music video and made it unforgettable. They are best known for their music video on treadmills, which took home a Grammy for Best Music Video.

Although our middle school selves would be devastated to hear that these bands are no longer number 1, at least we have the band tees to remember them.
