Leaders to discuss religions role in solving Atlanta’s problems

Four prominent Atlanta religious leaders will address the role of religion in solving the issues of the city in this new century.

Reverend Joanna Adams of Morningside and Trinity Presbyterian churches, Imam Plemon El-Amim of Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, Reverend Joseph Roberts of Ebenezer Baptist Church and Rabbi Alvin Sugaman of the Temple in Atlanta will meet at the Rialto Center for the Arts on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The leaders will speak about homelessness, political partisanship, gun control and racial division in Atlanta and how religion can help address and solve these issues.

“Each member of the [group] has a history of working successfully in interfaith contexts to address serious problems that face Atlanta,” said Kathryn McClymond, professor and chair of the Department of Religious Studies at Georgia State, to Jeremy Craig of Georgia State Public Relations and Marketing Communications.
