Students discover new energy sources through natural gas

Professor Hiram Barksdale and his Marketing 4900 class hosted a special dinner-and-movie event at Cinefest. “Switch,” a documentary on the research and importance of clean energy sources, was the feature of the night. The film emphasized the growing need for energy and fuel in the near future due to rapid urbanization and population growth.

Viewers were asked to fill out a quick survey and questionnaire after the film.

Doctor Scott Tinker, the filmmaker, explored different sources of energy such as solar, wind, nuclear, and natural gas. On his travels across the world, Dr. Tinker visited major producers of these energy sources. He explained the possibility for a cleaner environment through these cleaner and renewable energy sources.

Gary Garrett of the Southern States Energy Board made a special surprise appearance at the showing.

Viewers were treated to food and refreshments following the showing. They were also asked to complete a survey and questionnaire on what they learned from the film.

Professor Barksdale will hold another event for his class on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Georgia Dome prior to the football game. There will also be a Lunch-and-Learn on Wednesday, Nov. 7 in Dahlberg Hall from 11:30 to 1:30.
