Soccer player withdraws from Georgia State

Natalia Martinez's private Instagram picture was screenshotted and distributed by a friend.

Three days after Georgia State women’s soccer player Natalia Martinez got caught using the N-word on her Finsta account and was temporarily suspended from the team, Georgia State said has withdrawn from the university.

Earlier this morning, Georgia State sent a statement to The Signal Monday informing that, “The university is aware of a social media incident involving a student-athlete and the Dean of Students office had begun to look into the situation. On Monday, the student informed the Athletics Department she intends to withdraw from the university.”

The university later confirmed Martinez withdrew from her classes.

So far, the petition that was started by a student to expel Martinez has received 612 signatures.
