Atlanta, Ga, – The Signal, the student newspaper for Georgia State University, and The Collegian, the student newspaper for Georgia Perimeter College, have officially consolidated. Students from all six Georgia State campuses will be able to work for The Signal. This move comes on the heels of the Universities themselves consolidating.

The Current Signal Editor-in-Chief Troi Charity, has served that same position for The Collegian.
“The Signal is a place for everyone to come together and learn,” said Charity. “You can be curious about media and find a place on staff if you are willing. It’s helped me by getting a front row seat behind what goes into a news organization. I’ve had the opportunity to gain many skills during my time with both newspapers.”

The Collegian was a bi-weekly paper, and The Signal is a weekly paper which updates daily online. This consolidation will also increase Signal’s circulation from 4,500 to 8,000. The Signal’s summer magazine hit stands on June 2nd, marking the first publication delivered to all six campuses. The Signal resumes printing of the weekly issue on August 23rd.

Student Media Advisor Bryce McNeil is also excited about the consolidation.

“There’s a part of it that is daunting, obviously, but overall it’s an exciting time. With the establishment of bureaus and expanding our reporting base: The Signal is more of a training ground for city paper or television affiliate journalism positions than it’s ever been.”

Currently, The Signal has paid stipend positions open which include:
Executive Editor
Copy Editor
Bureau Chief(s)
Student Assistant

The Signal also has positions open for general photographers, writers, marketers, advertising and graphic designers. For information on the paid stipend and general positions, head to https://georgiastatesignal.com/contact-us/employment/.
