Preventing sexual harassment in the workplace

The Office of Opportunity Development will holding a workshop session on the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace.

The event will be held this Tuesday.

The purpose of the workshop is to inform students and faculty of Georgia State what sexual harassment is and to know what is appropriate and inappropriate behavior in the workplace.

This session will be geared towards managers.

“Sexual harassment prevention applies to all, no matter the race, age, sex, color, religion, disability, national origin and veterans status,” Director of Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity Dr. Annette Butler said. “This session, along with many other sessions, workshops, and trainings is to educate about the Title IX Education Amendments of 1972, which is to prohibit sex discrimination.”

Dr. Butler went on to say that their “mission with this event is to promote and monitor a F.A.I.R. environment for all of Georgia State by making sure we are fair, accessible, inclusive, and respectful in our environment with one another. Sexual harassment is not about intent, but it is the impact it has on others. “

She says in this session she will ask, “Did you bring your person to campus with you today?”

The event will be held at the HR Training Room at One Park Place Basement from nine a.m. to noon. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
