Pi Alpha comes out in support of fraternity brothers involved in physical altercation

Earlier today, the Pi Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated released a statement regarding the altercation between fellow fraternity brothers Christian Hill and Darrell Bazemore that led to the disqualification of Hill from the position of Student Government Association president and the removal from his current position as vice president of student services.

The chapter said it did not support the incident that took place, but that situations like this happen and sometimes “it takes situations like this to bring us closer together.”

Here is the full statement:

As Men of the Pi Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. we are proud to say that we are stronger than ever. One unique thing about our Fraternity is that we represent a “real brotherhood”. We operate like a family, which means sometimes we can be bonding doing community service activities, and other times we are arguing about whose turn it is to take out the trash. With that being said, we are not defending the actions that took place on March 15th, we are simply saying that in a real family, situations happen. We do regret that this situation happened, but immediately following it we were able to come together as brothers and talk about it. Sometimes, it takes situations like this to bring us closer together. We appreciate all the support we have received this year, and we ask that you continue to support us as we have already moved past this as “our cause speeds on its way
