Panthers grab late draw against UALR

The Georgia State women’s soccer team secured a draw against UALR after late goals from both teams in regulation time Oct. 3.

The game started with UALR completely dominating the Panthers in the first half. In the 17th minute, Georgia State goalkeeper Christa Fox was called into action to make a save, and then, three minutes later, had to be alert to come up with another big save.

Panthers forward Whitney Ravan had the only shot of the half for Georgia State, with the half ending with the Panthers being outshot 7-1.

The second half began with the Panthers much improved, and both teams tested each other’s goalkeepers throughout the half.

It was UALR that made the breakthrough in the 79th minute, when a cross found UALR forward Louise Kallin who headed into the back of the net.

Georgia State pressed hard for the equalizer, and found it in the 87th minute. Ravan latched on to a loose ball from a UALR defender and chipped the goalkeeper for her third goal of the season.

The game went into overtime, with the Panthers carrying the momentum and pressing hard for the win. Ravan and Taina Anglade both had exceptional chances, but were unable to find the back of the net, and the match ended at 1-1.
