Men’s basketball to play game for a cause

Georgia State men’s basketball team will be taking part in the regional round of the Acura Coaches vs. Cancer Classic this Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 9 p.m. as they will start off by facing Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

The event is a yearly college basketball tournament ran by the Coaches vs. Cancer organization to help benefit American Cancer Society to reduce the amount of cancer victims worldwide.

BYU head coach Dave Rose is a cancer survivor himself after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2009.

Although BYU is not the toughest opponent on Georgia State’s schedule, it does not necessarily mean that they will come out garnering an easy victory.

Last year, BYU had a 26-9 overall and 12-4 in the West Coast Conference and made its sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.

So far this season, BYU opened up by defeating Tennessee State, 81-66. Sophomore guard Tyler Haws led the team with 22 points.

In the other hand, Georgia State is comes from a 74-55 loss to Duke with senior Devonta White scoring a team high 19 points.

According to Georgia State Athletics, the game can be seen live online via BYUtv.
