Georgia State drops final game of tournament: finishes with 4-1 record

The Georgia State softball team was defeated in its final matchup of the USF Under Armour Tournament by a final score of 9-3 to the Saint Joseph’s Hawks.

The loss snaped the Panthers’ six game winning streak.

Saint Joseph’s got the scoring going in the top of the first inning when they put two runs on the board.

Monica Aguilar reached on a fielder’s choice to score Dana Parks who walked. A Sarah Yoos bunt single scored Nicole Palase to make the game 2-0 Hawks.

The Panthers put two of their own runs on the board in their half of the first as Callie Alford had her third home run of the tournament. She and Lauren Coleman scored.

It would be all Saint Joseph’s from that point forward.

Palase singled in the top of the second with two outs to drive in two runs as Kaitlyn Medlam came in to replace Katie Worley.

The Hawks would score at least one run in every inning except the fourth, including a Morgan Earling home run in the top of the third.
