Georgia State Defeats Old Dominion 68-64

Georgia State defeated Old Dominion 68-64, which now sets the season record at 5-2. Isaiah Dennis, Jeremy Hollowell, T.J. Shipes, Jeff Thomas and Kevin Ware started for the Panthers. Malik Benlevi, Markus Crider, Jordan Session and Isaiah Williams came off the bench and contributed to the Panther victory.

Thomas led the Panther scorers with 18 points. In addition Hollowell was a top performer in the game finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Crider finished the game with 13 points and seven rebounds and Ware added on completing the game with 12 points, four assist and one rebound. Williams finished with five assist leading the team in assist.  

With a close battle between the two teams the largest lead for Old Dominion was eight points, while the Panthers largest lead was seven points. The teams tied the game 19-19 with 8:30 minutes to go in the first half.

At halftime the Panthers were leading by one leaving the score 36-35.

Despite the seven Georgia State turnovers the team had a total of seven blocks and one steal keeping them in constant competition with the Monarchs.

Georgia State made six of eight free throws, four of which were completed by Williams, to close out the game with 0:16 seconds left.

The Panthers were 19-41 from the field, 7-13 from 3-point range and 23-30 at the free throw line.

Georgia State remains undefeated at home with a 4-0 season record. The team faces Southern Miss Dec. 19 at Reed Green Coliseum.
