Former Panthers forward signs to team in Argentina

Curtis Washington, former men’s basketball forward for the Georgia State Panthers, has signed a contract with Instituto located in Argentina.

The 6’11 forward helped contribute to the back-to-back 25 win seasons under head coach Ron Hunter. Washington, averaged 5.2 points and 2.5 points per game his senior season, as well as shooting 56.0 percent from the floor.
Washington finished his career scoring 431 points and 231 rebounds, while shooting 61.4 percent from the floor. Washington was named to the 2014-15 All-Sun Belt Preseason Third-Team.

Washington’s role in the team was to clog up the middle on the defensive side of the ball. The former USC Trojan made a presence of becoming a profound shot blocker towards the later part of the 2014-15 season all the way into the NCAA tournament. Washington finished his career with 44 blocks.

Ron Hunter is pleased he has had three of his former players sign professional contracts after last years magical run.

“I am glad that Curtis will be able to continue his basketball career,” head coach Ron Hunter said to Georgia State Athletics in a press release. “Curtis was a big part of our success the last two seasons and stepped up big when it mattered down the stretch. I wish him all the best of luck in Argentina and know he has the ability to do great things,” Hunter said.

R.J Hunter was the 28th overall selection of the NBA Draft to the Boston Celtics, and Ryan Harrow signed a contract with a team in Greece.
