MARTA passenger speaks out on the May 13th train/bus accident

An injured passenger spoke out on May 19 about the May 13th incident involving a train collision with a MARTA bus, according to WSB-TV. The accident was caused by congested  traffic due to a red light, according to the bus driver. The injured passenger Michael Sampson was the last to get off the bus before the train collided. As Sampson jumped, the door hit his body causing him to land on his head and side. His injuries added up to a broken arm, head injury and deep cuts all over. Sampson said the accident was avoidable.

Los Angeles to raise minimum wage to $15

With 800,000 workers in Los Angeles, as stated by city officials, the minimum wage is intended to increase from $9 to $15 by 2020, according to the Los Angeles Times. This marks Los Angeles as the largest city to adopt the substantial increase in minimum wage. The first wage boost will increase pay to $10.50 by July 2016. The council’s vote was influenced from public debate and back-room lobbying. By 2022, Los Angeles will change base pay according to inflation.

Father of boy that was discovered in a suitcase at the Spanish Border speaks out

An 8-year-old African boy was put into a suitcase to be smuggled into the Spanish enclave May 7 and the father is speaking out, according to TIME. The father’s lawyer Juan Isidro Fernnádez Diaz said the man wouldn’t have allowed his son to illegally cross into the Spanish Border if he was aware of it. Diaz said the boy was another victim of the mafia’s running Africa’s human-trafficking networks. European nations are struggling to deal with the increase in immigrants and refugees coming in via the Mediterranean.
